Acquisition of Ukrainian citizenship of a child by birth

Basis for receiving the service

●parents or one of the parents at the time of his birth were citizens of Ukraine;● was born on the territory of Ukraine from stateless persons who legally reside in the territory of Ukraine;● was born outside Ukraine from stateless persons who permanently legally reside on the territory of Ukraine, and did not acquire citizenship of another state by birth;● was born on the territory of Ukraine from foreigners who legally reside on the territory of Ukraine, and did not acquire the citizenship of either of the parents by birth;● was born on the territory of Ukraine, one of whose parents was granted refugee status in Ukraine or asylum in Ukraine, and did not acquire the citizenship of either parent by birth, or acquired by birth the citizenship of the parent who was granted refugee status in Ukraine or asylum in Ukraine;● was born on the territory of Ukraine from a foreigner and stateless person who legally reside in the territory of Ukraine, and did not acquire by birth the citizenship of the parent who is a foreigner;● is a newborn child found on the territory of Ukraine, both of whose parents are unknown (foundling)● A person who has the right to acquire the citizenship of Ukraine by birth is a citizen of Ukraine from the moment of birth.

Registration and issuance of a certificate of registration of a child as a citizen of Ukraine

There are two types of certificate of registration of a child as a citizen of Ukraine:1. A certificate obliging to withdraw from the citizenship of a foreign state in cases where the child has acquired the citizenship of one of the parents, who is a foreigner;2. Certificate of registration of a child as a citizen of Ukraine, which gives the right to issue a passport of a citizen of Ukraine, provided that the child is not a citizen of another state.
